API Pond Aquarium & Pond Salt 50 lbs. (MPN 106D)
Provide essential electrolytes for fish with an all-natural salt derived from evaporated sea water. This salt not only enhances gill function but also safeguards against nitrite toxicity and reduces stress by maintaining a natural balance of electrolytes in the body fluids of pond fish. It can be safely used in conjunction with PondCare water conditioners, filtration materials, medications, and fish foods.
To effectively use PondCare Pond Salt, distribute it evenly around the perimeter of the pond. For ponds with plants, add 1 1/4 cups of pond salt per 100 gallons of water. For ponds without plants, increase the dosage to 2 1/2 cups of pond salt per 100 gallons of water. Additionally, for disease treatment, salt baths are recommended for a short period to eliminate external parasite and fungal infections. Dissolve 2 1/2 cups of Pond Salt in 10 gallons of pond water in a plastic container and place the infected fish in the solution for 5-10 minutes. Avoid using tap water for this purpose. The fish should not be left in the salt bath for more than 10 minutes, and the treatment can be repeated after 24 hours if necessary.
An important note to remember is that Pond Salt remains in the pond even after it is added and does not evaporate or get filtered out. Therefore, it should only be added according to the given instructions with each water change. It is crucial to avoid exceeding salt levels higher than 0.1% as it may cause damage to plants in the pond.
